Guided by their motto, “Knowledge is the stair-way to success,” the sophomores worked their way through an activity-laden but work filled year. The first act of business of the sophomore council led by Judy Atkinson, was to change the class colors from lavender and white to the more practical green and white. Bedecked in these colors and the theme, “Come Ye All.” The sophomore entry in the homecoming parade was a splendid sight. On December 15, the first semester social, the memorable Snowflake Ball was held with the freshman class. Then in February came Career Day, a valuable and entertaining experience for all. A Lucky Friday the thirteenth of April, was the day for the Sophomore Class Day when the class enjoyed a hilarious assembly, presenting horse election winners, a movie, and the sophomore newspaper. The Civic minded class of ‘64 showed its colors by running the shaved ice booth throughout the football season. The second semester project was the distribution of Easter baskets filled with food by the sophomores for the needy. All in all, this memorable year proved the class of ‘64 to be an energetic, fun-loving, and hard working group of students.
